EPIC and CPL
Cpl is currently working in partnership with the EPIC programme to help new arrivals to Ireland to find work. The EPIC programme was officially launched on May 22nd 2008 by the Minister for Integration, Mr. Conor Lenihan T.D, at the Royal College of Physicians, Dublin. On the day one of the key note speakers was Chief executive of Cpl, Anne Heraty.
EPIC (Employment for People from Immigrant communities) is a partnership project with the Government, State Agencies, Business and NGO sectors. It identifies newly arrived potential job seekers to Ireland who experience difficulties accessing appropriate employment and supports them by providing individual guidance, specialised training and personal development opportunities.
The programme consists of a six week training module focusing on professional English for employment, interview, life and work skills, computer skills, and curriculum vitae preparation. This is followed by individual assistance by Training and Employment Officers to further prepare and assist participants in finding employment.
All clients have access to a Social Support Officer, available to respond to any queries regarding social welfare benefits, housing, and childcare.
Since January 2008, 65 clients, from over 15 nationalities, have enrolled in the course. 50% have been successfully placed in employment while the balance have entered further training or are completing the final training elements of the programme.
